Original ‘Blade’ star Wesley Snipes has expressed his frustration with the ongoing challenges faced by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in developing the new ‘Blade’ movie.

The reboot, set to star Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the iconic vampire hunter, encountered another setback on June 12 when director Yann Demange exited the project.

Marvel announced that Eric Pearson, known for his work on ‘The Fantastic Four,’ ‘Black Widow,’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ would be stepping in as the new screenwriter.

Snipes took to X, formerly Twitter, commenting, “Blade, lordylordylordy,” accompanied by a side-eye emoji. He added, “Folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough. Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they?”

Marvel first announced the ‘Blade’ movie with Ali in July 2019. The project has seen multiple changes in its creative team, with Bassam Tariq initially attached as director before his departure in September 2022, just two months before filming was set to begin. Several screenwriters have also been involved, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Michael Starrbury.

Variety reported last November that the script had gone through at least five writers, with significant narrative changes along the way. Despite the challenges, Marvel remains committed to the project, which is currently scheduled for release on November 7, 2025.

Snipes originally debuted as Blade in the 1998 film and reprised the role in 2002’s ‘Blade II’ and 2004’s ‘Blade: Trinity.’
