Former President Donald Trump suggested on Monday that President Joe Biden should undergo a drug test before this week’s debate, continuing his unsubstantiated claims that Biden would be “all jacked up” on illicit substances when they face off in Atlanta.
“DRUG TEST FOR CROOKED JOE BIDEN???” Trump posted on his Truth Social media platform.
“I WOULD, ALSO, IMMEDIATELY AGREE TO ONE!!!”
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who served as the White House physician under Trump, reiterated calls for Biden to take a series of drug tests this week, asserting that he had “no choice” but to raise the issue.
Jackson claimed, without evidence, that Biden would be using unnamed drugs to enhance his performance while preparing at Camp David for Thursday’s debate with Trump.
“I’m going to be demanding on behalf of many millions of concerned Americans right now that he submit to a drug test before and after this debate, specifically looking for performance-enhancing drugs,” Jackson said Sunday on Fox News.
“Because we see — we have seen recently in his State of the Union address — that there was a Joe Biden that came out that was not similar at all to what we see on a day-to-day basis for the last 3.5 years.”
There is no evidence that Biden has used any performance-enhancing drugs.
Despite challenging Biden to a debate for months, Trump has appeared more apprehensive about their match-up in recent weeks, and both he and his surrogates have tempered earlier boasts of a dominant performance.
“Right now, crooked Joe has gone to a log cabin to ‘study,’” Trump said at a rally Saturday in Philadelphia.
“He’s sleeping now, because they want to get him good and strong. So a little before debate time, he gets a shot in the ass.”
Biden’s team directed The Post to campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu, who told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” Sunday that Trump was just talking “trash.”
“Trump’s going to talk trash like that all the time because that’s what he does,” Landrieu said. “The other day, you may remember, he was trying to question our president’s mental acuity, and he could not remember the name of his own doctor, so tell President Trump to bring whatever he’s got — President Biden will be standing there ready for him.”
Republicans and Democrats alike have expressed concern for Biden over his frequent gaffes, mumblings, freezes, and wanderings in front of world leaders.
A recent Wall Street Journal report quoted lawmakers and staffers saying they have been worried about Biden’s decline — noting he speaks more softly during meetings and increasingly relies on notes and aides.
Biden’s campaign slammed the report at the time, with re-election campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez saying: “The only people willing to make these false claims are Trump’s MAGA Republicans in Congress.”
Biden, if re-elected, will be 86 at the end of his second four-year term.
His physical exams have never included the public results of a mental acuity test, despite polls showing a majority of Americans are concerned about his mental fitness.
On Monday, Trump praised Jackson’s work but expressed doubt that anything would be done before the CNN-hosted debate in Atlanta.
“Ronny Jackson was a brilliant Doctor, Admiral and now, a GREAT Congressman,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“He happens to be totally right … but unfortunately, nothing will be done about it!”
