Three Pakistani citizens shot dead, two abducted by Iranian forces near Mashkhel border

QUETTA – At least three Pakistani civilians have been killed, while two were abducted from Mashkhel border region in Balochistan.

The development was confirmed by the Additional DC of Mashkel district who said Iranian forces abducted two Pakistanis after opening fire in the Pak-Iran border area of Kala Grandi.

ADC confirmed the deaths of three Pakistanis and mentioned that four were wounded in the incident.

As per reports, officials said that injured persons have been shifted to hospital for treatment.  Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry or security forces are yet to comment on the development.

The recent tensions follow a standoff between Islamabad and Tehran as Pakistan responded to the violation of its airspace by striking targets of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) inside Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

This action was a response to Iranian missiles violating Pakistani airspace and hitting a target in Tubat.

Islamabad strongly denounced this unprovoked violation of its airspace by Iran and the subsequent strike inside Pakistani territory, which resulted in the death of two innocent children and the injury of three girls.

The country also lodged strong protest with Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran and has conveyed its condemnation of this violation of sovereignty to the Iranian Charge d’affaires.
