Julianna Margulies, known for her role as Laura Peterson, the on-again-off-again love interest of Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) in “The Morning Show,” will not be returning for the show’s fourth season.
Sources revealed to Variety that Margulies declined an offer for a one-episode appearance in Season 4, despite earlier discussions about further developing her character. This decision predates the controversy surrounding derogatory comments she made about Black and LGBTQ communities during a podcast interview last year, for which she later apologised.
Margulies joined the show in its second season, and her character’s arc continued through Season 3. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt had previously expressed interest in exploring Laura’s complexity and multidimensionality in the upcoming season.
Despite not returning to “The Morning Show,” Margulies has a full plate ahead. She will soon be seen on Broadway opposite Peter Gallagher in “Left on Tenth” and will also star in Edward Burns’ upcoming film “Millers in Marriage.”
“The Morning Show,” which delves into the lives of those involved in a morning news show amidst scandals and controversies, boasts a stellar cast including Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, and others. While Margulies won’t be a part of Season 4, Marion Cotillard is set to join the ensemble.
