Australia thrash Bangladesh by 28 runs (DLS) in a rain-affected Super 8s stage Group 1 match of the ICC Men’s T20 world Cup 2024 in North Sound.

Chasing a 141-run target for victory, Australia reached 100/2 in 11.2 overs (28 runs ahead as per the DLS method). David Warner was the top scorer with 53 runs followed by Travis Head who made 31. Glenn Maxwell made 14 runs. Rishad Hossain bagged two wickets.

Earlier, Bangladesh made 140/8 in the allocated 20 overs. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was the highest scorer who made 41 runs. Towhid Hridoy scored 40, Litton Das 16 and Taskin Ahmed 13 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures. Player of the match Pat Cummins bagged three wickets and Adam Zampa had two while Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Starc took one wicket each.
