A rare fashion show with swimsuit models made headlines, as some time back the women were not allowed to come in public without hijab. The fashion event was held under Red Sea Fashion Week at the St. Regis Red Sea Resort, showcasing designer Yasmina Qanzal’s collection of skimpy swimsuits.

The show is seen as a part of Riyadh’s broader efforts, under MBS Vision 2030 reform program, to modernize its society. While these reforms have included easing social restrictions and promoting cultural events, they have also been accompanied by increased repression of dissent.

Fashion industry in Saudi Arabia is growing, contributing significantly to the economy and providing employment opportunities.
