King Charles may still be holding a grudge with his younger son Prince Harry; however, the Duke of Sussex is holding out on a wild card.
Harry, who stepped down from his royal duties in 2020 alongside wife Meghan Markle, has been unable to have a meeting with his cancer-stricken father, but is ready to pull on his heartstrings if the need arises, per royal correspondent Jennie Bond.
“Having grandchildren is a powerful tug on the heartstrings,” Bond told OK! magazine, noting how Archie and Lilibet could help heal relations.
She added that King Charles “very much wants the chance to get to know Archie and Lilibet and to create some memories for them.”
Hence, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet “may provide the most compelling link between Charles and Harry, and convince them both to forgive, if not forget, the bitter rows of the past.”
While Prince Harry once used to be close to his family, Meghan on the other hand, is estranged from her own father and is only connected to her mother.
Bond expressed that she “fervently hopes that Harry will not follow Meghan’s example of remaining obdurately estranged from her father and most of her family,” adding that maybe Archie and Lilibet hold “the key to reconciliation.”
Previously, royal correspondent Michael Cole told GB News that the King is “desperate” to know his grandchildren as he realises “time is short.”
