Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; more rains, gusty winds expected

PESHAWAR – Rains and gusty winds are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday evening/night and the next two days.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea penetrate southern/central parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over the southern/upper parts.

Under these weather conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Laki Marwat, Tank, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, Naushera, Charsadda, Orakzai and Kurram on Thursday evening/night and the next two days. Few hailstorms and heavy falls are also likely in central/southern districts during the period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, windstorm/thunderstorm rains occurred in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 23 per cent.
