Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather update; isolated rains expected

PESHAWAR – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave will likely affect upper and western parts of the country from tonight.

Under the influence of these conditions, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swat, Kurram, Waziristan, Bajaur and Khyber on Thursday night. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

On Friday and Saturday, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Balakot, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai and Waziristan.

In Peshawar, the maximum temperatures will likely remain between 38-40 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Peshawar and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.

In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.
