Perrie Edwards wore her heart on her sleeve when she wrote a song for her upcoming debut solo album, as the song was about “a friendship that I no longer have.”
During her recent appearance on the Zach Song Show on Tuesday, June 26, the 30-year-old singer revealed she wrote a song about “a friendship that I no longer have.”
“There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song – I can’t even listen to it without crying,” Edwards admitted.
She continued, “It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song. We don’t talk any more. They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up.”
Edwards’ words sparked speculation that the song could be about her former Little Mix bandmate, Jesy Nelson, who unexpectedly quit the band in 2020 – just a year before the band dismantled for good.
Nelson previously told The Sun that her struggles with mental health led to the ultimate decision.
Their other bandmate, Leigh-Anne, opened up about the “abrupt, sad, and messy” split in her autobiography, revealing that the remaining trio had to go to therapy to deal with thee “traumatic experience.”
When host Zach Song asked Edwards if she would be willing to reconcile with the unnamed friend, Edwards replied, “I’m open to it. I don’t know if they would be after they hear the song.”
