LAHORE – Muslims across Pakistan are all set to celebrate Eidul Adha 2024 on Monday (June 17) in Pakistan. To mark this day, Muslims sacrifice sheep, goats, camels and other permitted animals to remember the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S).

The meat of the sacrificial animal is divided into three portions – one for the family, one for relatives and one for deserving people.

On this festival, people used to hold get to gathers where different dishes of mutton or beef are cooked for the guests. Mutton chops steam roast is a popular dish in Pakistan and as the Eid draws closer people are looking for recipe to cook mouthwatering chops. Here is the latest recipe to cook mutton chops steam roast.

Mutton Chops Steam Roast Latest Recipe

This recipe yields tender and flavorful mutton chops with a rich gravy that’s perfect for a hearty Pakistani meal.

Ingredients:

1 kg mutton chops

1 cup yogurt

2 tablespoons ginger paste

2 tablespoons garlic paste

1 tablespoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon garam masala powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

Salt to taste

4-5 tablespoons cooking oil

1 lemon (juiced)

Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Marination:
  • In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt to taste.
  • Add the mutton chops to the marinade and coat them well. Let them marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator, or preferably overnight for best results.
  • Preparation:
    • After marination, heat oil in a large deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the marinated mutton chops along with the marinade to the pan.
    • Cook the chops for about 5-7 minutes until they are browned on all sides.
  1. Steaming:
    • Once the chops are browned, add 1 cup of water to the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and let the chops cook on low heat for about 30-40 minutes until they are tender and fully cooked.
    • Check occasionally and add more water if needed to prevent burning or sticking to the pan.
  2. Finishing:
    • Once the mutton chops are cooked through and the gravy thickens, squeeze the lemon juice over the chops and mix gently.
    • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
