Latest Update on new taxes on Solar Panels as govt revises policy

KARACHI – Reports about changes in solar policy sparked concerns among Pakistanis who invested their hard-earned money in green energy.

Amid the contrasting reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that there will be no new duty imposed on solar panels, stressing PML-N government’s pledge to ensure access to renewable solar energy for all people.

PM Shehbaz made this statement during federal cabinet meeting where he pushed for cost renewable solar energy to all Pakistanis amid soaring utility bills.

He further reiterated plans to boost economy, focusing on enhancing exports by developing small and medium-sized industries. PM emphasized the government’s priority of economic security and equal development for all citizens, stating that privileges for the elite and those exploiting the country’s resources would be abolished.

The federal cabinet also approved presentation of National Economic Council’s 2022-23 annual report in Parliament and ratified decisions from various committee meetings.
