Kundi voices support for operation

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, expressing his support for Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, on Monday remarked that those who backed terrorists should also be targeted.

He was talking to media during his visit to the Bacha Khan Centre of the Awami National Party where he met with senior party leaders to discuss security and political matters.

He said that it would have been better to take political parties on board regarding the operation. “I will raise the political parties’ concerns with the Prime Minister and the President of Pakistan. As Governor, I support Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.”

Faisal Kundi suggested that the federal government hold meetings on counterterrorism with the KP assembly in terrorism hotzones across the province instead of Islamabad. The Governor said Operation Azm-i-Istehkam was launched following meetings between the federal government and all stakeholders, including the provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. “They have all committed and we stand with them and the federal government,” Kundi said.
