Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; heatwave will likely prevail in plains

ISLAMABAD – Heatwave will likely prevail in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and plains of Pakistan on Wednesday and Thursday with 02 to 04°C above normal day temperatures.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave prevails over northern parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, extremely hot weather is expected in the twin cities and most plains of the country on Wednesday and Thursday. However, partly cloudy weather with light rain/thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during evening/night.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 41-43°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Extremely hot weather prevailed in the southern/central parts. However, some areas received scattered rains.

Jacobabad remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. The maximum temperature in Sibbi, Noor Pur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bhakkar was recorded at 47°C, Okara, Kot Addu, Kasur, Karor (Layyah), Jhang and Dadu at 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 23 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 12 per cent.
