Fazl rejects govt’s claim of ‘people-friendly’ budget

The JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Wednesday that the government calls this budget people-friendly without considering floundering state of the economy.

He made these remarks during interaction with reporters outside the National Assembly. The JUI-F chief said that a minority government is ruling the country, adding that the Pakistan People’s Party is not part of the government.

Later, speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, he pointed out that this budget was custom-made to burden the people with taxes. “I want to convey the concerns of my people that despite government’s lofty claims, country is in dire straits”, insisted Maulana.

However, Mualana Fazl-ur-Rehman has proposed to expand the radius of reconciliation process for political stability and build ideological consensus for economic prosperity across the nation.

He said every sector had been taxed in the Budget 2024-25 which has caused inflation and limited the purchasing power of a common man.
Fazl said the government should invest public tax money on their well-being and provide them all basic amenities including social facilities, legal rights and economic opportunities.
