DUBAI – A significant number of Philippines citizens reside in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the number of Filipinos in the UAE approximately stands at 700,000 individuals and they are engaged in various employments and business in the Gulf country.
All UAE citizens and residents, including Filipinos, are required to keep a valid Emirates ID card with them. They can get it renewed after paying the certain fee and submitting relevant documents.
Emirates ID card is a legal requirement for all UAE citizens and residents as they can face problems while availing the government services without it.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security-ICP of the United Arab Emirates is the competent authority to issue Emirates ID cards to all of its citizens and expatriates living in the country.
All UAE and GCC nationals and expatriates, including Philippines, can apply for a renewal of Emirates ID card at the website of ICP, or through an accredited typing centre.
Applicant might need to visit one of ICP’s service centres to provide your biometric details.
As of June 2024, following is the fee structure for the Emirates ID card renewal in UAE:
AED 100 (depending on the period of years): Card issuance fee for five years.
AED150 dirhams: Service fee
AED 30 dirhams: Typing Center fee
150 dirhams: fees for urgent service, which are carried out at customer happiness centers
