Budget 2024-25: FED on cement increased – Check new rates

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has proposed increase in federal excise duty on cement as the budget for fiscal year 2024-25 is being presented in the National Assembly.

In budget speech, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the excise duty on cement would be increased by Rs1 to Rs3 per kilogramme.

The move, if approved, would jack up the cement prices in Pakistan, affecting the construction sector.

The increase in excise duty on cement would be  Rs1 to Rs3 per kilogram means an additional cost of Rs. 2 per kilogram. The increase in excise duty per bag would be Rs100 per bag.

So, if a cement bag currently costs Rs1,280, after the increase in excise duty, the new cost would be Rs. 1,280 + Rs. 100 = Rs. 1,380 per bag.
