Sheryl Crow has recently lashed out at Drake for using AI-generated Tupac Shakur vocals in one of his Kendrick Lamar diss tracks.
In a new interview with BBC, Sheryl strongly condemned Drake, saying, “You cannot bring people back from the dead and believe that they would stand for that.”
Earlier in April, Drake released the song Taylor Made Freestyle which was directed at both Taylor Swift and Kendrick.
Sheryl further said, “I’m sure Drake thought, ‘Yeah, I shouldn’t do it, but I’ll say sorry later.’ But it’s already done, and people will find it even if he takes it down.”
“It’s hateful,” she continued.
Sheryl added, “It is antithetical to the life force that exists in all of us.”
For the unversed, Drake has been involved in a longstanding feud with rapper Kendrick for years. In March, Kendrick hit out at Drake and fellow rap rival J Cole in his song, Like That, claiming that rather than representing the genre’s “big three” it’s just “big me”.
Meanwhile, Sheryl also cited Stephen Hawking’s quote in a statement with her song’s release.
“As a mom, I want to leave a better world for my children, a healthier planet,” she said.
Sheryl added, “Is A.I. going to be a benevolent partner in these goals or not? It’s unsettling, and this song deals with those anxieties.”
