Punjab announces two weekly holidays for schools after summer vacation

LAHORE – The Punjab government has announced that there will be two weekly holidays for schools across the province.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that Saturday has also been declared as weekly holiday by the government, adding that the schools will now remain closed for two days in a week.

He said the decision has been taken to provide relief to teachers’ community in the province. “Teachers are serving the nation and it is our duty to take care of them”.

The education minister said that the decision regard two weekly holidays has been taken due to excessive loan on teachers.

He further said that the schools timings however will be increased from Monday to Friday so the decision would not affect the education of the students.

Currently, all the government schools and majority of the private schools observe only one weekly off as they remain closed on Sunday.

All schools across Punjab will remain closed for two days in a week, announced the education minister as the government aims at providing relief tot government.

As there will be two weekly holidays for schools, the government has decided to increase the school timings for the remaining days (Monday-Friday). The government is yet to issue the schedule for schools timings in Punjab.
