Sindh Vehicle Registration Latest Update here as 60-day rule to end

Under the new rules, all cars and heavy vehicles must be registered before leaving the dealership or entering the country, eliminating the previous 60-day registration window.

This aims to end the misuse of ‘Applied For’ number plates, which allow unregistered vehicles to be driven legally during the registration period. It has been learnt that imported cars must be registered at Karachi’s seaport if staying in Sindh or transported via carriers if going to other provinces.

Severe penalties, including fine by up to Rs10lacs are being considered for non-compliance. The amendment to the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965 is expected to be presented at the next cabinet meeting and is likely to pass easily.

This change reflects the government’s commitment to improving traffic safety and compliance in Sindh.
