FC to be deployed in AJK

The interior ministry on Sunday approved the deployment of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary (FC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to improve the security situation maintain peace in the area.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with AJK Prime Minister Chaudhary Anwarul Haq at the Interior Ministry and discussed with him the law and order situation in the region.

They also exchanged views on the political situation and the upcoming budget for the new financial year. Naqvi assured the prime minister that the promises made to the people of AJK were being fulfilled.

Naqvi approved the deployment of FC in AJK at the  request of Prime Minister Chaudhary. He said that all possible cooperation would be extended to maintain peace in region and improve security situation there.

Naqvi emphasised that the federal government stood with the government and the people of AJK. Chaudhary expressed gratitude to the minister for taking immediate steps to resolve the issues.

Last month, AJK witnessed deadly clashes in which a few people died and many others were injured. Sensing the gravity of the situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif released Rs23 billion funds to resolve the problems of inflation and high electricity bills in AJK.

As the AJK government is in the middle of preparing its annual budget for the next financial year, Prime Minister Chaudhry on Saturday requested the federal government to increase the region’s grant, keeping in view its sensitive environment.

Prime Minister Chaudhry met with Prime Minister Shehbaz’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah. Sanaullah who reaffirmed the government’s dedication to utilising all available resources to drive economic development and social prosperity in AJK.
