Panel formed to restructure public depts

The Punjab government has constituted a high-level 14-member special committee for restructuring and re-organisation of all provincial government departments and institutions after detailed deliberations.

This committee has been asked to submit a detailed report on abolishing departments, reducing the size of departments, bringing substantial reduction in expenses and merging institutions. A plan of action will also have to be submitted with suggestions and recommendations regarding how to implement it fully.

The chairperson of this high-powered committee will be convener senior provincial minister Maryam Aurangzeb.

The committee will submit its detailed report within 60 days.
