Social media platform Google for Education and the Federal Ministry of Education have announced a strategic partnership to bring digital transformation to millions of students in Pakistan.
This collaboration aims to enhance educational access for students across the country and improve the digital learning ecosystem.
A statement issued on Thursday revealed that Google, through its country partner Tech Valley, will collaborate with the Government of Pakistan to locally assemble over five million Chromebooks by 2026. This initiative will provide students and teachers with digital tools and resources in the classroom and support innovative programs to train educators on effective technology use.
A key focus of the partnership will be addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Pakistan. Last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared an “educational emergency” to tackle the problem of over 26 million children not attending school.
He also announced a national programme to re-enrol these children, hoping for cooperation from provincial governments.
