Significant rains predicted in Pakistan from June 18

ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in parts of Pakistan from June 18 June 22.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate upper/central parts of the country from June 18. A Shallow westerly wave is also likely to approach western parts of the country on the same day.

Under the influence of this weather system, scattered rains are predicted across Pakistan from June 18 (evening/night) to June 22.

Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir: Rain-thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday (evening/night)/Saturday morning. Hot and dry weather is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on 16th June & 17th June. Rain-wind/thunderstorms expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 18th June to 22nd June with occasional gaps. Few heavy falls are also likely in Kashmir during the period.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain-thunderstorms are expected in Dir, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Kohistan, Chitral, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram and Waziristan on Friday (evening/night)/Saturday morning. Very hot and dry weather is likely in southern parts of the province from 16th June to 18th June. Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan from 18th June (night) to 22nd June with occasional gaps.

Punjab/Islamabad: Dust/thunderstorm-rains are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal and Gujranwala on Friday (evening/night)/Saturday morning. Very hot and dry weather is likely in most parts of the province from 16th June to 18th June. Rain-wind/thundershowers/duststorms with few heavy falls are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali from 18th June (evening/night) to 22nd June with occasional gaps. Rain-wind/thundershowers/duststorms are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Layyah from 20th to 22nd June.

Balochistan: Very hot and dry weather is likely in most parts of the province from 16th June to 18th June. Rain-thunderstorms are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Kohlu, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti and Barkhan from 20th to 22nd June.

Sindh: Very hot and dry weather is likely in most parts of the province from 17th June to 20th June. Gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Larkana on 21st & 22nd June.

Possible Impacts and advises:

Gusty winds and lightning may affect daily routines, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. Very hot weather conditions are likely to subside from 19th to 22nd June.
