The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has decided to write letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), highlighting the deteriorating situation in Sindh, especially concerning legality, security, and retaliatory actions against dissenters. GDA Coordinator, President Sardar Ali Shah Rashidi has said that the entire nation is on edge, urging authorities to show compassion towards the people, who are the true owners of Pakistan. Rashidi emphasized the need to prevent Sindh from facing a fate similar to Kashmir, stressing that the people of Sindh should not be suppressed. These sentiments were expressed during a media briefing after a committee meeting chaired by PirPagara.
The meeting, held at the residence of former federal minister Murtaza Khan Jatoi, saw the participation of various leaders, including Dr. SafdarAbbasi, former Sindh Chief Minister LiaquatJatoi, Syed Zeeshan Shah, AyazLatifPalijo, Sardar Abdul Rahim, SairaBanu, Barrister HasnainMirza, IrfanullahMarwat, Nand Kumar Goklani, Arbab Anwar Jabbar, Zoheb Shah, Jalal Shah Jamot, GhulamDastagirRajar, Abdul RazzaqRahmoon, Razi Khan Jatoi, MPA FoziaKausar, and Dr. RafiqueBanbhan. Rashidi further stated that Sindh is witnessing a surge in lawlessness, with law enforcement agencies failing to register FIRs against perpetrators.
He warned against the recurrence of past injustices and emphasized the need for prompt action to address the current crisis. The GDA plans to reconvene for another committee meeting on June 1st to review and implement decisions. Rashidi urged the authorities to intervene promptly to avoid a collapse of law and order, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the nation’s survival and security. In response to a question, Rashidi reiterated the significance of the Chief Justice’s intervention, indicating the establishment’s pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s interests.
He emphasized the need for unity among stakeholders, stating that the nation’s survival requires collective action. Regarding retaliatory measures against political opponents, Rashidi emphasized that some matters are still under investigation, and the truth will surface in due time. When asked about negotiations with the government, Rashidi questioned the legitimacy of a government born out of rigged elections, asserting the GDA’s refusal to accept such a regime. He reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to opposing the current system and striving for change through peaceful means.
