Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has been released from Kotlakhpat jail, after 355 days of detention in graft cases.
Elahi, a seasoned politician and aide of Imran Khan, was first arrested on June 1, 2023 but got r elief from courts. He was arrested more than a dozen times before finally getting free from prison. Chaudhry has reached Zahoor Elahi Palace from Lakhpat Jail.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf leader was freed as Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him bail in a case regarding illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly. Elahi was accused of making unlawful appointments in the Punjab Assembly for grade 17 positions by altering records.
On the other hand, IG Punjab submitted the details of the cases registered against Parvez Elahi in the court of Justice Amjad Rafiq regarding May 9 cases against PTI leader; the court had asked for these details.
Punjab Police named Elahi in 20 cases of May 9 incident. PTI leader was also named in one case each in Attock district and Gujranwala district. the records.
